Michael Hall is Vice President, Program Research and Development at the YMCA of Greater Toronto where he provides strategic leadership to the YMCA’s research agenda and the evaluation of its impact. Michael’s career has focused on developing and mobilizing knowledge to strengthen the contributions that charities and community organizations make to the lives of Canadians. In addition to his many publications on philanthropy and nonprofit organizations, he played a key role in establishing and leading a series of foundational national research studies on giving and volunteering and Canada’s charitable and nonprofit sector. His volunteer contributions include serving as the founding President of Parks and Recreation Ontario and membership on the boards of a number of nonprofit research associations and academic journals. Michael is a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research and holds a PhD in social psychology from York University.
